Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island

BREAKING: The first day of summer may include some stormy weather on Long Island.

The National Weather Service has issued the following hazardous weather outlook for Long Island:

Scattered thunderstorms late today into early this evening ahead of an approaching front could produce isolated instances of damaging wind gusts.

A series of frontal systems will impact the area through early next week, the NWS says. The first will approach Wednesday afternoon and move through Wednesday evening, followed by another from Friday afternoon into Saturday and then another late Sunday into Sunday night.

Wednesday- Scattered showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Southwest wind 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday Night- Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 11pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. West wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. North wind 6 to 9 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

Thursday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. South wind 3 to 6 mph.

Friday- A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. South wind 5 to 11 mph.

Friday Night- A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Saturday- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 85.

Saturday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 67.

Sunday- Sunny, with a high near 84.

Sunday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 66.

Monday- A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 81.
