Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island

A hot and stormy start to the workweek for the island.

The National Weather Service has issued the following hazardous weather outlook for Long Island:

A cold front will bring isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon into evening. Some storms could be strong to severe, and while large hail cannot be ruled out, damaging wind gusts will be the more likely threat.

The full forecast:

Monday- A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph.

Monday Night- A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. West wind 6 to 8 mph.

Tuesday- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Heat index values as high as 95. West wind 7 to 10 mph.

Tuesday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm. Some of the storms could be severe. Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph.

Wednesday- Sunny, with a high near 82.

Partly cloudy, with a low around 66.

Thursday- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 84.

Thursday Night- A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69.

Friday- A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 83.
