JQA Elementary Closed Monday Due To Coronavirus Case

The district decided to close the school to in-person learning after a staff member tested positive on Sunday.

DEER PARK, NY β€” A Deer Park elementary school will be closed on Monday after an employee recently tested positive for the coronavirus.

School officials announced Sunday evening that a staff member of the John Quincy Adams Primary School tested positive for the virus.

Due to the fact that the test came late on Sunday, officials decided to close the school on Monday to conduct a contact tracing investigation, Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services Alicia Konecny wrote in a letter.

As a result, the school will switch to virtual learning for the day.

In addition, on Sunday the school district announced that a Deer Park High School employee tested positive for the coronavirus. The high school will remain open on Monday.
