An award-winning singer-songwriter brought some big ideas to North Babylon school this year to welcome the students back to a new year of learning. According to a statement released by the district, Woods Road Elementary School hosted recording artist, television personality and author Patricia Shih and her "Big Ideas!" assembly program. The school described the Shih's "Big Ideas!" as a "cultural arts program focused on character." The show encouraged audience participation and focused on what was described as the "six pillars of character" including trustworthiness, responsibility, respect, fairness, caring and citizenship. The program was sponsored by the PTA.
