North Babylon Boy Scouts Honored For Clean-Up Initiative
Babylon officials honored local Boy Scout Troop 399 for their watershed clean-up efforts in North Babylon.

(HUNTINGTON STATION, NY... May 5, 2021) β Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly (D-
Huntington Station), along with Town of Babylon officials Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Deputy
Supervisor Tony Martinez and Councilman Terry McSweeney honored local Boy Scout Troop
399 for their watershed clean-up efforts in North Babylon in a ceremony at Babylon Town Hall
in Lindenhurst on Saturday, May 1.

Under the direction of Scoutmaster Joseph Fatuzzo and Assistant Scoutmaster Jimmy White, in
coordination with Babylon Chief Environmental Analyst Richard Groh and Andrew Mirchel of
Save the Great South Bay, the scouts cleaned out both artificial debris and natural obstacles in
the water to increase the flow of the southern portion of Sumpwams Creek along Longfellow
Avenue in North Babylon on Saturday, April 24.
βBy volunteering to participate in this clean-up, these scouts showed not only commitment to
community, but to our local environment as well,β said Legislator Donnelly. βI thank all those
involved for ensuring the area that we love remains just as beautiful as always.β
