North Babylon Firefighter Released From Hospital To Fanfare

The firefighter, who was hospitalized after battling a fire last week, was greeted by friends and family upon his release from the hospital.

NORTH BABYLON, NY β€” A North Babylon firefighter who was hospitalized while battling a blaze got a special homecoming this past weekend.

Last week, one of the members of the North Babylon Volunteer Fire Company, Steven Dellavecchia, suffered a cardiac emergency during the fire on Oakrest Lane. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip in serious condition.

After a few days in the hospital, he was well enough to be sent home on Saturday afternoon.

Upon his release, Dellavecchia was greeted by members of the fire company, along with family, friends, and members of surrounding fire departments who were lined up outside.
