North Babylon High Students Invited to Perform at Stage the Change Conference

Theater students at NBH to perform at the Stage the Change conference which helps students become global citizens through creativity.

Theater students at North Babylon High School have been invited to perform monologues at the annual Stage the Change conference on Nov. 7, which focuses on investigating methods for teaching students to become global citizens through creativity and performance.

The conference features theatrical performances based on social action and will take place at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts at Long Island University (LIU) Post. As part of an assignment in Lisa Drance’s Theater II class, the students wrote individual scripts based on the theme β€œEquality: A Possibility or a Dream?” Following rewrites, the students worked in groups and read each other’s work, ultimately choosing to submit student playwright Krista Schmitt’s one-act titled β€œEuphoria.” Schmitt worked with classmates Brianna Delacruz, Mackenzie Cosentino, Ivana Rahaman, Natalie Urban and Zara Zulquar.

The invitation to perform at the conference is a testament not only to the remarkable work of the students, but also to the quality of theater education they are receiving.
