William E. DeLuca Jr. Elementary School teacher, Judi Simmons, was recently honored at the virtual 15th Legislative District Teacher Appreciation Awards Night presented by Suffolk County Legislator Jason A. Richberg. Simmons, an AIS reading specialist and second grade teacher, was named an honoree after being nominated by DeLuca Principal Vincent Fantauzzi.

Simmons was one of four honorees from the 15th Legislative District. Honorees are acknowledged for making a difference in the lives of students, while helping them recognize all that they can be. It was noted that Simmons displays high levels of professionalism and works collaboratively with her peers and administration. She focuses her efforts on aiding her students and went above and beyond for them throughout the pandemic.
