In a report in Newsday, co-owner Anthony Carcaterra said that the reason for the closure is due to the fact that they were unable to extend the lease for the property after the landlord decided to reconstruct the entire industrial building, located near Tanger Outlets.

Carcaterra also announced on Facebook that in the last few weeks, Verde will be changing the menu as part of a tribute to his parents life work "Papa Joe's."
