The surviving members of Calvagna's band issued the following statement:
"We are beyond saddened to have to announce that our beloved singer Danny Calvagna has passed away. Our hearts are broken and our voices are muted. We do know that life here on earth is meant to bring joy and love to others. It will not be easy for many, but, in Danny's spirit, we say: C'mon, get happy!"
Many musicians, friends, and those who worked with Calvagna over the years shared their experiences on social media. KJ Farrells, where Calvagna often performed, offered a tribute:
"We are crushed to hear of the passing of Danny Calvagna. A talented musician, champion of the Long Island music scene and just a warm, compassionate man. His generous spirit touched so many lives. Danny helped us make so many memories."
"Our hearts hurt for Karen, his family, his bandmates past and present and the Long Island music community. While the stage lights will no longer shine as brightly here on earth, we know that heaven's stage just got a whole lot brighter."
Calvagna's friend Kurt Stanley, who recorded many of his performances, summed up his feelings for his late friend.
"He was a good man who brought happiness and smiles to many with his music."
