Sears Empty, Again

Sears Appliances and Hardware in North Babylon is now empty, again.

Spirit Halloween temporarily filled the retail space, located at Deer Park Avenue and Bay Shore Road, through mid-November. Now that the holiday is over, the property is vacant once more.

Rental space on the 60,983-square-foot property is being handled through Lerner-Heidenberg Properties. 

Sears closed in April when the company began shutting down its under-performing stores.

The hardware store faced a losing battle against the ever-present Home Depot chain. Home Depot has a Deer Park store on Commack Road, near Tanger Outlets. It has a second store up the road in Commack. Sears also had to compete for customers with Lowe's on Sunrise Highway in Bay Shore.
