SSCM Celebrating All 12 Days of Christmas

SSCM School celebrated with a special Student Mass, parties, and more, closing the final 12 Days of Christmas with a beautiful performance.

Wide-eyed angels and sceptered shepherds from SSCM School in Deer Park gifted the parish community with a special School Mass just before the Christmas break. The assembly was complete with donkeys, camels, sheep, Three Wise Men, Joseph, Mother Mary, and Baby Jesus. First grade teacher, Mrs. Cora McGerald worked with the first and second grade students for months, preparing songs, prayer, poems and a reenactment of the Nativity Story. With a homily focused on how Jesus is the reason for the season, young and old alike attending the Mass felt a little closer to the true spirit of Christmas.
Continuing to the traditional end of the Christmas season, the school's Epiphany Concert was the perfect cap to this season of joy. With Band Director, Mrs. Vikki Maglio guiding SSCM's drummers, flautists, trumpeters and trombonists through spirited band versions of our favorite Christmas songs, there was merriment, indeed.
Meanwhile, under the talented tutelage of Mrs. Angela Sandkuhl, the Violin Ensemble treated us to the sweet strains of Christmas Classics and the entire school stepped up to take part in a beautiful performance, a musical play, reminding us that although the 12 Days of Christmas had been nearly at a close, each of us can live as if it is Christmas every day, with joy in our hearts and charity in our thoughts and actions.

Saints Cyril and Methodius School is hosting an Open House on Sunday, January 29th from 10am - 1pm. For more information or to schedule a private tour, contact the school at 1.631.667.4044.
