SSCM Musicians at PEAK Festival in Northport
Saints Cyril and Methodius students had the unique privilege of participating in the 6th Annual PEAK Festival in Northport.
Three fourth grade students from Saints Cyril and Methodius Elementary School in Deer Park had the unique opportunity to participate in the 6th Annual PEAK Festival (Parents, Educators, and Kids) in Northport this month. Now in its 59th year, the Suffolk County Music Educators Association (SCMEA) hosted this yearβs PEAK Festival at Northport High School, where hundreds of young musicians, educators and parents gathered to share the musical experience. Suffolk County Music Educators are able to nominate a select number of their music students to join in this exciting day of music and mentoring.
Students learned new and unique instruments from Ukuleles to Boom Whackers, played their own instruments of choice, and participated in workshops on everything from Musical Theater to Folk Dance and more. The PEAK festival is about talented fourth grade students learning and experiencing music in addition to performing it, and Saints Cyril and Methodius School students have been thrilled to participate in the event for a number of years now, each year more interesting than the last.
Congratulations and many thanks to all those at SCMEA, as well as the Music Educators who have planned and pulled these events together over the past six years. Seeing the collaboration and cooperation in action is an inspiration to the students and it is evident from the outstanding camaraderie and musicianship at the event each year.
