Teacher Of The Week: Ms. Carissa Agnello

WYANDANCH, NY — Everybody has a favorite teacher — maybe it's a teacher who went out of their way to make one student's day or a teacher who brightens up a classroom, whether virtually or in-person, every day.

One teacher who deserves a shout-out is Ms. Carissa Agnello, a first-grade Special Education teacher at La Francis Hardiman Elementary School in Wyandanch. She was nominated by Sharon Newman.

Here's what Newman had to say about Ms. Agnello:

Miss Agnello has what it takes to make sure her students get the best education possible and make learning fun. She brought pails of snow into her classroom and the children had fun playing and building snowmen. She always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude no matter what obstacles come her way. Since the pandemic began, it has been a challenge not knowing if she was teaching remotely or in her classroom and how many children came to class. She is dedicated, patient and a very caring person. It is clear that Miss Agnello loves and enjoys teaching. She makes sure each child gets her undivided attention and deserves this honor.
