Peter King served fourteen terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, and brought several important beach replenishment projects to Gilgo Beach and the surrounding areas. The congressmanβs advocacy has been instrumental in saving the townβs beaches over the years. Following Superstorm Sandy, King led a successful fight in Congress to obtain $60.4 billion in emergency funding for victims of the storm, many of whom reside in the Town of Babylon. During his time in Congress, King also fought hard to bring veteransβ benefits into the 21st century, along with advocating strong support for funding to combat deadly illness such as breast cancer and prostate cancer.Β
Earlier this year, the Town Board unanimously voted to re-name the Marina after King, and the board is proud to do so in honor of Kingβs dedication to Babylon.
