Which Store Chains Will Be Open On Easter?

LONG ISLAND, NY — Easter is quickly approaching and while some stores will be closed for the holiday, some big box stores still plan to be open to customers who might need something last minute.

The website, Offers.com, recently compiled a list of which large chains will be open and which will be closed on Easter, which falls on Sunday, April 4 this year.

So before heading out this holiday, check out the full list of stores with locations on Long Island that will be serving customers this Easter:

OPEN:

• Big Lots: Big Lots has confirmed it will be open on Easter Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• CVS: Expect 24-hour locations to remain open (other locations’ hours will vary). Note that pharmacy hours will vary from regular store hours, so be sure to check ahead of time. The CVS pharmacy generally closes early on Sundays, regardless.
• Home Depot: Home Depot has not announced its Easter 2021 plans, but, in years past, it’s remained open on Easter. Stores always have reduced hours on Sundays, so plan to shop between the usual Sunday hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
• Starbucks: Some locations will be open, but expect limited hours that vary by location. Many locations will be closed, however, and that includes Starbucks cafes located inside Target stores (which will be closed). Even if your favorite Starbucks is open on Easter, you may not be able to sit at the cafe — many locations are not open for dine-in customers, meaning you’ll have to get your order to-go or via the drive-thru.
• Walgreens: Expect 24-hour locations to remain open on Easter, as they do on all major holidays. If you’re picking up a prescription, be sure to check the pharmacy hours, as these will vary from regular store hours.
• Walmart: Unless it announces otherwise, Walmart will remain open on Easter. This is nothing new — Walmart is generally always open on Easter. It was open in 2020, as well, although hours were reduced due to COVID-19. Walmart is open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. at most locations. It might reduce hours for Easter Sunday. Note that, while the main store may be open, other operations (such as the auto care center and pharmacy) will close earlier than the store does. Walmart curbside pickup also closes earlier than the store — at 8 p.m.

CLOSED:

• Best Buy: Best Buy stays closed on Easter every year. That includes curbside pickup.
• Costco: Costco is always closed on Easter, and this year is no different. Check out their entire list of holiday closures here.
• Kohl’s: Kohl’s has a tradition of remaining closed on Easter. Drive Up (curbside pickup) will be closed, too, so be sure to order what you need for Easter by Saturday or earlier.
• Lowe’s: Lowe’s has already announced that all stores in the U.S. and Canada will remain closed on Easter Sunday, to give employees the day off. Lowe’s made the same move last year as well, in acknowledgment of the pandemic.
• Sam’s Club: Sam’s Club is always closed on Easter. Check out their hours for other holidays here. Curbside pickup is closed, too, so be sure to place your order by Saturday at the latest. We recommend getting your order in early, as this service will likely be in high demand during Easter weekend.
• Target: Target has a history of closing on Easter and will remain closed this year, too. Target has also announced that it will stay closed on Thanksgiving 2021. Expect Drive Up and grocery delivery to be in high demand for the Easter holiday, and plan to order what you need as far in advance as you can.
• Aldi: Easter Sunday is one of the holidays on which Aldi remains closed.
• Trader Joe’s: Trader Joe’s hasn’t yet announced its Easter plans for 2021. However, stores were closed on Easter 2020.
