7 Blocks of Ditmas Park's Famous Cortelyou Road Will Be Car-Free Saturday

DITMAS PARK, BROOKLYN — Cortelyou Road will be closed to traffic this Saturday from East 17th Street to Coney Island Avenue. The seven-block stretch of Cortelyou will instead be turned over to pedestrians, businesses and entertainers for the first of two Weekend Walks planned this month in Ditmas Park.

The event, put on by the Flatbush Development Corporation, will run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Attractions include a bounce house — in operation from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. — outdoor dining and sidewalk sales at local businesses, face painting and an 8:30 p.m. showing of "Pokémon: The First Move."

Also, this is a BYOC event — so don't forget to bring your own chair (or blanket) so you can fully immerse yourself in the summertime cheer.

Cortelyou Road's second Weekend Walk will take place on the evening of Aug. 19, and will feature a showing of "Ghostbusters."
