Corn as High as a Golden Lab's Eye

As we mentioned last week, people in Ditmas Park like to garden, and we're not just talking about flowers.

All over the neighborhood you can see tomatoes growing in tiny front yards, squash in medians, and pots of basil and oregano marching up front stoops.

On the corner of Dorchester and E. 17th At. there is an apartment building vegetable garden that has, not only tomatoes and other standards, but also about a dozen stalks of corn.

A few blocks up, between Newkirk and Foster there is a jack-and-the-beanstalk-size summer squash vine that has completely obliterated front fence.
