Soul at Bar Chord and Electronic Hip-Hop at Celebrate Brooklyn!

Good morning Ditmas Park! It's a cool, sunny day with a high predicted of 78 degrees.

Alternate side parking rules are in effect Monday, Tuesday and Friday but are suspended Wednesday and Thursday for Eid al-Fitr. The Muslim festival ends the monthlong sunrise-to-sunset fast of Ramadan.  

Here's what's happening this week in the 'hood. 

Monday 

- At Lark, there a sing-along with Rolie Polie Guacamole from 4:15pm – 5:15pm. $5 per family.


Tuesday 

- At Midwood Martial Arts there's pre-school open play. Our beloved Harriety is on vacation for the rest of the summer, but kids can play in the toy-filled, kid-friendly playspace at 10:15 and 11:15. $1 donation per child requested. 

- For those closer to Cortelyou, there's Babies and Books at the Cortelyou Library at 10:30 a.m., and Arts and Crafts at 3 p.m. Both free.  

- The Milkman plays at Bar Chord at 9 p.m.

Wednesday 

- Rugby Road mom Angela Sabano (fka Angela Billings) will be performing Broadway, opera, and Disney with a small group of musicians at a free concert outside Brooklyn Borough Hall from 12:15 to 1 p.m. If you've never heard her sing, you're in for a treat (just see this a video of her singing Barbarina's Aria from the Marriage of Figaro). Bring the kids, bring, a lunch, but no need for money, it's free.

- Closer to home, there a story time at the Cortelyou Library at 2:45 p.m. and PlayStation gaming for teens at 4 p.m. (at least they'll have entered a library ...). Plus, there's a class to help people prepare for the U.S. citizenship exam at 5. 


 Thursday 
  
 - Kids can play board games at the Cortelyou Library at 3 p.m.

- Jake G & The Soul Vibrance plays at Bar Chord at 9 p.m.

- See a Live Score to Beasts of the Southern Wild tonight at Celebrate Brooklyn! 
Dan Romer, Benh Zeitlin and The Wordless Orchestra will recreate the original score to the film.


Friday 

- There is a computer basics class at 10 a.m. and summertime games for kids from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Cortelyou Library. 

- DJ Eddie Nocentelli plays at Bar Chord at 9 p.m.

- Tonight at Celebrate Brooklyn, Shaggy and TK Wonder perform.
