Ditmas Park Home Prices Nearly Doubled In 4 Years, New Data Show

DITMAS PARK, BROOKLYN — Who told? A sleepy Brooklyn neighborhood known for tree-lined streets and slanted-roof houses has become one of the borough's hottest, new data show.

No other Brooklyn neighborhood saw sales prices rise as steeply as in Ditmas Park, where median home prices jumped from $705,000 in 2015 to $1.2 million in 2019, according to a StreetEasy analysis released Thursday.

Ditmas Park (tied with Gowanus) homes ranked as the 10th most expensive in Brooklyn in 2019, while they ranked as the 27th in 2015, according to the real estate website analysis.

Homes in the small central Brooklyn neighborhood are now more expensive than trending neighborhoods that easily out-priced them in 2015. Ditmas Park homes now cost more than Park Slope with a $1.15 million median, Williamsburg with a $1.02 million median, and Brooklyn Heights with a $971,515 median.

While housing trends may have rocked Ditmas Park, some things don't change.

In both 2015 and 2019, Cobble Hill, Red Hook and Carroll Gardens topped the expensive homes list with $2.55 million, $2.04 million and $1.9 million median home prices respectively.

And, as in 2015, the cheapest Brooklyn home prices this year can be found in Coney Island where the median price is $405,000.

No one tell New York about Coney Island.
