Drunken Cop Kills Brooklyn Woman In Car Crash, Police Say

NYPD Officer Rohan Shaw stands accused of vehicular manslaughter after Joanna Dixon, 23, died in a crash with the cop in Brooklyn.

FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN — An intoxicated police officer got behind the wheel and killed a young Brooklyn woman this weekend, according to the NYPD.

Officer Rohan Shaw, 47, stands accused of killing Joanna Dixon, 23, after he slammed into another car on Foster Avenue and East 55th Street Sunday, police said.

Shaw's 2019 Nissan GTR rammed into a 2016 Mazda MZR with enough force to send it spinning into a telephone pole just before 5 a.m., police said.

The Mazda driver bolted from the car, a 22-year-old woman was seriously injured and Dixon, of Canarsie, died later at Brookdale Hospital, according to police.

Shaw was charged with vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, reckless driving, and speed violation, police said.

CapStat data identify Shaw as a Queens 107th Precinct police officer who was sued in 2013 for hitting a man with an NYPD bus.

According to CapStat, the Legal Aid Society's NYPD transparency website, the suit was settled for $75,000.
