Protest Planned Against Rezoning For Central Brooklyn: Report
The Movement to Protect the People asked followers to protest a land use study at an upcoming community board meeting, Brownstoner reported.

FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN — Local activists want to stop a land use study they believe will lead to rezoning in central Brooklyn, according to reports.
The Movement to Protect the People sent an email asking followers to protest zoning study plans at the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure meeting at Community Board 9, slated for Feb. 13, Brownstoner reported Tuesday.
MTPP wrote in the email that Community Board 9 — which covers areas in Flatbush, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens and Crown Heights — plans to request a Department of City Planning zoning study which, the group argued, will end in the displacement of people of color.

The group is lead by activist Alicia Boyd who has a long history of combatting the members of Brooklyn Community Board 9.
Boyd was captured on video telling Community Board guest Assemblywoman Diana Richardson to "take that s--- and shove it up your a--" during a heated debate over rezoning in February 2016.

Boyd also sued the community board over a Crown Heights rezoning attempt in May 2015.
More recently, Boyd led the charge at a protest against the controversial Bedford Armory site, storming up to its doorway, guarded by police, and demanding to be let in.
According to Brownstoner, critics believe the activist is fighting rezoning in order to protect her own block on Empire Boulevard from development.
