Five Ways To Boost Your Credit In 90 Days

Five quick credit hacks that can yield results fast!

I am not an expert. I can only share what's worked for me ...

You might have heard of some of these strategies before but fixing your credit does not have to take years. It can really take about 2-3 months depending on how aggressive you are. This is not a sponsored post but I like to use Credit Karma because it's free and you can check Trans Union and Equifax at the same time. You can also create a free account on Experien and check with them as well. Ok, here we go:

  1. Remove all discrepancies - it's not rocket science. If it should not be there, then why is it? I will fight tooth and nail for my stuff to look flawless and you should too! In Credit Karma, there's a link that can be found once you click into a specific credit account (ie. Citibank, Capital One, etc.) and underneath the details there is a section that says "See an Error?" Click there and it will take you to a page where you can create a dispute. You can also call them directly. Do not give up! Be nice but aggressive.
  2. Consolidate - If you have a lot of debt, consolidate! It will move all of your individual credit debt into the loans section of your report which weighs differently then multiple open credit cards. Doing so will look a lot better to creditors and it will boost your score quickly. This will also help you pay down the debt over time with a set payment at a low monthly interest rate that is usually much lower then your high credit cards. Credit Karma makes these offers brilliantly near the bottom of your home page and as you click around on various pages. They are pretty easy to apply for and they deposit the money into your account in days! Wiping out your debt could increase your score by 20-40 points.
  3. Address your utilization rate. - If you only have a few credit cards, pay them down. Take your maximum available credit amount and multiply by 29%. That's the most you should have charged on that card. Example, $1,500 available to spend on Card X. You should only charge $450. Anything more will affect your credit score significantly. Paying down an individual account this way could increase your score about 7+ points.
  4. Stop Hard Pulls - Do not apply for additional cards, refinancing, auto loans, etc where an organization will officially check your credit. There is something called a "Soft Pull" where a creditor can see your credit without officially impacting your score. Those are the only credit checks that you should allow if your want to increase your score. Be sure to explain this clearly if you are applying to or inquiring with various resources.
  5. Hide your Cards! Once you pay down a credit card, put it away. Don't close it, just hide it from yourself. Don't carry it with you, just leave it at home or you run the risk of using it again.

Don't forget to check your score consistently. Turn on notifications! I believe Credit Karma updates weekly on Tuesdays, check back regularly. Give your score about 2 weeks to reflect payments and payoffs. Seeing your score increase even just a little bit will give you the confidence to keep going.
You too can have super sexy credit. I believe in you!
Get your mind right - laser sharp and visualize that score at 800+. Then apply some of these strategies to make it happen.
