Flatbush Councilman Kicks Off Canned Food Drive for Holidays

Got any unwanted nonperishables laying around the house? Your local councilman — and his student helpers — will find them a better home.

EAST FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN — New York City Councilman Jumaane Williams, representing the Flatbush, East Flatbush and Flatlands neighborhoods, kicked off his annual canned-food drive Tuesday — with a hand from his student helpers — to assist needy families through the holiday season. The drive will run from now until Dec. 15.

"Donations will be given to local food pantries and charitable organizations," according to the councilman. (Flyer below.)

Canned foods can be dropped off at Williams' office, located at 4517 Avenue D in East Flatbush, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, until Dec. 15.
