Flatbush Gas Station Set to Be Replaced by 3-Story Building With Shops and Offices

Start saying your goodbyes to the (slightly overpriced) gas station at Foster and Coney Island avenues.

FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN — The gas station on the corner of Foster and Coney Island avenues, near the southern end of Ditmas Park, is set to be demolished and replaced by a commercial building filled with six ground-floor shops and two upper floors of office space, if plans filed by the property developer Nov. 14 are approved by city officials.

The current gas station at 1039 Coney Island Ave. fills a 16,376-square-foot lot, records show. (And its gas prices are a little higher than most nearby stations, according to MapQuest.)

The new commercial building would open up 28,886 square feet of retail and office space.

According to New York YIMBY, the building would include six retail stores on the ground floor and office spaces on the second and third floors. Records show the development would also include a parking garage with 42 parking spots.

Department of Building (DOB) staffers began reviewing the plan for approval Nov. 15. Demolition permits for the gas station have yet to be filed.
