Flatbush NYPD Raids Unearth Huge Gun Stash

FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN — An ongoing investigation led police to two Flatbush weapons stashes that collectively included a machine gun, an assault rifle, ammunition, a bullet proof vest, and marijuana, the NYPD announced Wednesday.

The first collection of contraband was found Tuesday by officers with the 67th Precinct, which patrols East Flatbush, at 149 Kenilworth Pl. police said. The cops found:

• A loaded AK-47 assault rifle
• A loaded Mac 11 machine gun
• A loaded .40 caliber gun
• A loaded 9mm firearm
• And a loaded .380 caliber firearm

An additional gun was also found, along with ammunition, the vest, and marijuana, police said.

Then, at 109 E. 51st St. in East Flatbush, police uncovered more marijuana and ammunition, as well as a loaded 10mm gun, a loaded .389 caliber firearm, and a loaded .45 caliber gun.

A total of 10 people were arrested in connection to the findings, police said, many of whom were slapped with gun and weapons charges. All of those arrested lived in the buildings where the illegal items were found, according to the NYPD, with the exception of a 48-year-old man who lives on Ocean Avenue.

Through Dec. 11, major crimes were collectively up 0.25 percent in the 67th Precinct compared to the same time period last year, according to official police statistics. However, gun-related crimes were down. The precinct recorded 56 shootings with 70 victims through Dec. 11, compared to 53 shootings with 60 victims during the same period in 2015.
