Flatbush's 'Junction BID' Is Getting A New Website on Feb. 1

Attention Flatbush entrepreneurs: the Junction BID, and its new website, are here to help.

FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN — The Junction BID will be launching a new, interactive website on the morning of Feb. 1, executive director Kenneth Mbonu told Patch. The website, to be accessible at flatbushjunctionbid.com and exploreflatbush.com, will provide a variety of new information and tools for local business owners, as well as those looking for goods and services in the BID's area.

The Junction BID works with about 250 businesses within its zone of focus, Mbonu said, which stretches from Farragut Place to Avenue H on Flatbush Avenue, and on Nostrand Avenue from Glenwood Road to Avenue A.

"If you are a start-up and looking to grow, we have information [on] establishing your company, and incubator spaces in Brooklyn," Mbonu said.

The new website will also provide listings of available storefront space in the BID's area, though Mbonu said there's only about a six percent vacancy rate. A public database of internet-based businesses will also be on the site, in order to help those companies find new clients.

And Mbonu said the website will provide a comprehensive list of existing businesses where people can shop, eat, and find entertainment and services.

Mbonu said the BID works with "a healthy mix" of clients. He said the area's low vacancy rate, "shows there's enough commerce here to keep business sustainable," but added that, "every business deals with pressure," including rising rents.

"Change is inevitable," he continued, and entrepreneurs, "have to adjust to changes." The BID aims to help with that, he said, showing them how to sell their goods with a higher profit margin, and how to find new audiences using social media, among other techniques.
