Person Killed In Flatbush Fire, Fire Department Says

The fire department got the call just before 2 p.m., according to FDNY.

FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN — A fire in Flatbush killed one person and injured another Tuesday afternoon, the fire department says.

The fire department got the call about the flames just before 2 p.m., when 65 firefighters rushed to the scene, officials said. The firefighters found one person who was dead when they got to the two-story building at 409 E 96th St. and another person with non-life-threatening injuries, FDNY says.

The injured victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital, according to FDNY. The fire was put out by 2:32 p.m., officials said.

The cause of the fire is unknown, and the fire department could not provide the victims' ages or genders as of this writing.
