Ditmas Park's Qathra Cafe Shuttered By Health Inspectors
The Cortelyou Road coffee shop was shut down by health inspectors Tuesday, according to a yellow sign posted on its front door.

DITMAS PARK, BROOKLYN -- A Mediterranean coffee shop on Cortelyou Road was shut down by the Health Department this week, according to a notice posted on the front door.
Qathra, at 1112 Cortelyou Road near Westminster Road, was closed by the Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene when it earned 54 violation points during an inspection on Tuesday, an official notice shows.
Inspectors found food not being held at the proper temperature and not protected from contamination, vermin, and conditions conducive to pests, officials said.

Owners did not immediately respond to Patch's request for comment.
Qathra has been serving up hearty breakfasts, sandwiches and salads since it opened on Cortelyou Road in 2012.

The Ditmas Park Cafe was named on of the top 30 in New York City that same year by the New York Coffee Guide, Patch reported at the time.
City records show Qathra has earned A grades from the four health inspections its undergone since 2016.
