Suzy's Roti Parlour Closed By Health Dept For Roaches And Flies
The Prospect Park South eatery was shuttered after a Health Department inspection last week, city records show.

PROSPECT PARK SOUTH — One of the neighborhood's favorite roti restaurants was shut down by health inspectors who found roaches, filth flies and pesticides inside the eatery, city records show.
Suzy's Roti Parlour on Church Avenue and East 10th Street was closed Sept. 27 after the Health Department issued it 54 sanitary violation points during an inspection of its kitchen, records show.
Patch left a voicemail message requesting comment, but did not immediately hear back. The outgoing message Tuesday said Suzy's was closed for "renovations and repairs."

Violations included foods held at unsafe temperatures and unprotected from contamination, roaches, filth flies, conditions conducive to attracting vermin and incorrect pesticides use, Health Department records show.
Suzy's Roti Parlor earned a B health grade with 21 violation points during its last inspection on June 3, and A grades on three previous inspections that date back to 2016.

The restaurant specializes in Caribbean and Trinidadian cuisine as well as dhalpuri, a variation of roti made with seasoned split peas, according to its website.
