Sycamore And Memphis Seoul Team Up For New Ditmas Park Pub
The Rusty Nail will bring spicy Seoul food and craft beer to the former home of Mamma Lucia's on Foster Avenue.
DITMAS PARK, BROOKLYN — Foster Avenue's about to get some Seoul food. Sycamore Bar + Flower Shop and Memphis Seoul are teaming up to open a gastro pub in Mamma Lucia's former home later this month, owners announced.
The Rusty Nail — a bar with grab-and-go Korean food — is slated to open its doors on Foster Avenue and East 17th Street on Oct. 25 after months of renovations, owners announced Wednesday.
"We are excited to be partnering with Memphis Seoul for our new bar opening in Ditmas Park,” said Rusty Nail owner Kathie Lee, also ther co-owner of The Farm on Adderley and Sycamore Bar + Flower Shop.

“The comfort bar grub of good southern cooking and soul food with a twist of Korean ingredients will be a great casual-and-fun food offering for the neighborhood."
Memphis Seoul, a former street-festival tent that opened its first storefront at 569 Lincoln Place in Crown Heights earlier this year, will provide a menu that fuzes southern soul food with Korean and Asian cuisine, said founder Bart Hubbuch.

Menu staples include Korean BBQ meatloaf, Ramen 'N' Cheese, kimchi coleslaw, and an all-American dessert called Death By Chocolate. Vegetarians can try vegetarian “pulled pork” with jackfruit and sautéed onions and gluten-free eaters can have it on an Udi’s gluten-free bun.
“Our one-of-a-kind food will be a fun and perfect complement to RustyNail’s cozy atmosphere and expertly curated selection of craft beers, liquors, wine and cocktails," Hubbach, 51, said.
This soft opening will begin with dinner service and the bar will open before the end of the year, owners said. State records show The Rusty Nail's liquor license was still pending as of Oct. 16.
The 45-room pub will serve Seoul food from 5 p.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, 5 p.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, noon to 1 a.m. Saturday and noon to midnight Sunday once the bar is up and running, owners said.
It's taking over Mamma Lucia's, which served up classic red sauce Italian sauce for more than 40 years before suddenly closing in May.
