9/11 Memorial And Museum 5K: What You Need To Know

The seventh annual 9/11 Memorial & Museum 5K and community day is slated for Sunday.

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — The seventh annual 9/11 Memorial & Museum 5K run/walk is slated for Sunday, April 28.

The 5K, whose chair is former host of The Daily Show Jon Stewart, will raise money for The Glade — a memorial dedicated to those who were injured, sickened or died from illnesses related to World Trade Center toxins during the months following the September 11th terrorist attacks.

The 5K will kick-off Sunday at 8 a.m. at Brookfield Place, 225 Liberty St.

The route will begin in Lower Manhattan and go through Battery Park with views of the One World Trade Center and the Statue of Liberty and finish next to the Memorial plaza where a community day is scheduled.

The community day is free and open to the public.

Street closures will be at the discretion of the New York City Police Department.

  • Battery Place between Little West Street and Greenwich Street
  • Greenwich Street between Battery Place and Trinity Place
  • Trinity Place between Morris Street and Edgar Street
  • Edgar Street between Trinity Place and Greenwich Street
  • Greenwich Street between Edgar Street and Rector Street

Dispersal:
Greenwich Street between Rector Street and Liberty Street

Festival:
Liberty Street between Greenwich Street and Trinity Place
