9/11 Victim Identified Through DNA Testing: Medical Examiner

Officials identified the 1,645th 9/11 World Trade Center victim. More than 1,100 people have not yet been identified.

WORLD TRADE CENTER, NY — Another man who died during the September 11, 2001, terror attacks on the World Trade Center has been identified, city officials said.

The 1,645th victim was identified through DNA testing of remains that were recovered more than 18 years ago, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner announced Friday.

The man is among more than 1,100 people who have not yet been identified, which is about 40 percent of the 2,753 people reported missing after the World Trade Center terror attacks.

His family has requested his name not be released, the Medical Examiner's office said.

He is the third victim to be identified in 2019. A man and woman were identified this summer.
