LOWER MANHATTAN, NY — As the city readies for a dangerously hot weekend amid an excessive heat warning, having pool access in your building may suddenly feel a lot more like a necessity than a luxurious perk.

Though there are plenty of public pools, private pool access might not be that far away.

A new study from Localize.city found that Lower Manhattan is among the city's best neighborhoods with apartments for sale that have pool access.

In Battery Park City, some 41 percent of sales listings have pool access — that's the third highest percentage in the city, according to the study. Tribeca and the Financial District have 37 and 33 percent of sales with pool access, respectively.

Nearly one in five properties on the market in Manhattan have pools, the study says.

Hudson Yards has the highest percentage of sales listings with pool access at about 73 percent, likely due to the soaring new buildings that have risen in the new neighborhood.

"In weather like this, it is certainly nice to live in a building with a pool, and such homes are common in the five boroughs [than] you might think," said Noa Pasternak, a data scientist with Localize.city, the real estate data website that published the report. "More than one out of every 10 homes for sale right now across the city — nearly 13 percent — have access to private pools."
