Bulletproof Coffee Opens In TriBeCa
The Silicon Valley favorite Bulletproof Coffee has opened its first storefront in New York City.

TRIBECA, NY — Bulletproof, the trendy line of buttery coffee beloved by celebrities, has opened its first New York City storefront in (where else?) TriBeCa.
Bulletproof opened its cafe at 95 Chambers St. in TriBeCa. It's sharing the space with a new Pure Green location, which also recently opened. The hip brand has long promoted its unique coffee drink — which mixes coffee with a special butter and a special oil — in New York City, but this is only the company's third brick-and-mortar coffee shop outside of its first two locations in California. The company's CEO Dave Asprey told Bloomberg in April that its superfood products have long been popular among Wall Street financiers, which helped him make the decision to open an outpost in Manhattan. Bulletproof's line of coffee drinks is part of a larger diet program by Bulletproof, but the main idea behind it is that the special concoction of coffee, butter and oil allows your morning joe to substitute for a complete breakfast. Bulletproof sells its signature butter coffee mixes and other super-food supplements in retail stores throughout New York City and the rest of the country. Many celebrities and health nuts swear by the unusual concoction, insisting that's both tasty and energizing. The company touts the beverage as a "high-performance drink that has a massive impact on your energy and cognitive function."

The Silicon Valley-approved cachet that comes with a Bulletproof coffee will cost you: Butter java drinkers need to fork over $4.75 for a medium cup at the company's California stores. A complete menu for the TriBeCa store hasn't yet been posted, but you can expect to hand a large chunk of change for the super coffee.
Although many celebrities and fad diet-enthusiasts have endorsed butter coffee, actual nutritionists remain unsure. The miracle cures claimed by Bulletproof coffee, which claims to spur weight loss and keep your brain sharp, haven't been FDA approved, as noted by the fine print on the company's website.
