Event co-host Abedin announced last week that she was leaving her husband Anthony Weiner following his most recent texting scandal. Abedin has a long history of working with Clinton. She was previously an assistant during Clinton's 2008 run for president and served as the Secretary of State's deputy chief of staff from 2009 to 2013, working under Clinton.

Lovato was in the news in late August for artistic rather than personal reasons: The indie rock band Sleigh Bells filed a lawsuit claiming that Lovato's 2015 hit "Stars" sampled their 2010 song "Infinity Guitars" without permission, according to Pitchfork.
