Dead Woman Found Floating In The East River, Police Say
The woman was found in the water near Pier 17 in the Financial District, police said.

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — Police found a dead woman floating in the East River on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
A passerby called 911 after spotting the woman in the water near Pier 17 in the South Street Seaport area, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
Police responded at about 3:45 p.m. and recovered the woman from the water. She was pronounced dead after she was removed from the river, the spokeswoman said.

It was not immediately clear how the woman died. The city's medical examiner will determine her cause of death.
Police have not yet identified the woman, the spokeswoman said, but she was between 25 and 30 years old.
