E For Effort: Stuyvesant HS Misspells Student Award, Report Says
The elite public high school botched the spelling in about 400 Certificate of Achievements it sent to top seniors, the Daily News reports.

TRIBECA, NY — Stuyvesant High School gets an E for Effort.
One of the nation's highest ranked high schools sent out misspelled "Certificates of Achievement" to more than 400 of its top students, according to a Daily News report.
The seniors were informed they were the "recipient" with an extra "E" of a great honor, according to the report.

“We’re proud of our award recipients,” Department of Education spokeswoman Danielle Filson told the Daily News. "And apologize for the typo."
Stuyvesant has made headlines in recent months for its lack of diversity, for which many blame the public high school's standardized test-based admissions.

The rigorous Specialized High School Admissions Test demands students prove they problem solve in mathematics and "demonstrate understanding of revising and editing skills central to writing in English."
