FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — The chef behind Eleven Madison Park and managing director at Del Posto opened a new restaurant in the Financial District called Crown Shy.

The restaurant, located at Art Deco skyscraper 70 Pine St., features a spread of dishes from oysters and gruyere fritters to red snapper crudo and grilled porcelet and chicken.

James Kent, previously of NoMad and Eleven Madison Park, and Jeff Katz, managing director of Del Posto, opened Crown Shy in the Financial District, Gothamist reported.

Crown Shy's namesake comes from the phenomenon when certain types of trees in the forest don't touch at the tops — mirroring the Financial District's skyscrapers in the neighborhood.

"Visually, the forest canopy is similar to the lower Manhattan skyline: dozens of distinct towers separated by the street grid. And because the restaurant is located on the ground floor of 70 Pine Street, it felt appropriate to borrow an effect naturally occurring in trees," the duo wrote on Instagram.

The eatery's dining hours are Sunday through Wednesday 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. The bar is open Sunday through Wednesday 4:45 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Thursday through Saturday 4:45 p.m. to 2 a.m. Reservations are recommended.
