Food And Drink Kiosks Coming To Lower Manhattan Plazas

The Department of Transportation is looking for businesses to operate food and drink kiosks at plazas near the Municipal Building.

LOWER MANHATTAN, NY — Want to run an outdoor food kiosk? The Department of Transportation is looking for two businesses to operate outdoor food and drink spots next to Manhattan's Municipal Building in Lower Manhattan.

The city wants to find two concessionaires to operate at plazas on the north and south side of the building at 1 Centre St.

The DOT began soliciting proposals Monday, the department announced.

"These concessions are intended to be of premium quality in terms of both design and items for sale. They should enhance the ambience of the plazas and communities while providing a public amenity," the DOT said in an announcement about the Request for Proposals, or RFP.

The future kiosk operators would have a five year agreement with three, five-year renewal options, the DOT said.

St. Andrew's Plaza, next to St. Andrew's Church and the Federal Courthouse, has 30,000 square feet of space, two kiosks, with room for movable tables and chairs. The South Plaza has about 10,000 square feet of space, with trees, benches, two kiosks and room for movable table and chairs.

An on-site tour is slated for September 5, and applications are due September 20 at 2 p.m.
