A Harry Potter-Inspired Cocktail Class Is Coming to FIDI

A wizard-themed pop-up that lets you don robes and use a "magic" wand is coming to Stone Street this September.

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — Call it Hogwarts near the Hudson.

London's magic-themed cocktail class is expanding across the pond to the Financial District on Sept. 13. The instagram famous pop-up, The Cauldron, is a nearly two hour course where budding wizards can brew concoctions inspired by fantasy novels and myths using molecular mixology, said the experience's creators.

“The idea that magic is real and just inaccessible to ordinary people is a concept that resonates with a generation of fantasy fans," said co-founders David Dukworth and Matthew Cortland in a joint statement. "Our goal is to use science, the magic of our world, to make that dream real."

German beer hall Bavaria Bierhaus will operate the 43 Stone Street location as a sort of four-month test run before a permanent spot comes to the city. The original London pop-up was brought to life by a Kickstarter campaign and inspired by the works of J.K Rowling, J.R.R Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.

At The Cauldron in Lower Manhattan, magic-lovers can dress in robes and use wands — featuring the same technology in key fobs — to activate objects by movement and voice. Guests can use those wands to pour brews including Hell Broth, a limited edition beer made for The Cauldron by Red Hook's Sixpoint Brewery, or Poetic Meade, a honey wine featured in several mythological tales.

Patrons have access to workstations including a cauldron, mixing utensils, wand-activated features and "potion-making ingredients" to brew two drinkable brews that change color, bubble and smoke.

Tickets for the class start at $44.99 and can be purchased here.
