Man Steals Woman's Phone On The R Train, Police Say
A man stole a woman's phone on the R train and demanded a sexual act to get her phone back, police said.

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — A man stole a woman's phone while she was sleeping on the subway and demanded some type of sexual act for its return, according to the NYPD.
The woman, 21, fell asleep on a northbound R train nearby the Whitehall subway station Sunday, May 12 about 11:30 p.m., police said.
A man woke her up and demanded some type of sexual act for the return of her phone, which he had snatched while she was asleep, police said.

The two began fighting when the man tried to take more of her belongings, police said. The NYPD said he was unable to steal anything else and fled at the Canal St. subway station with her phone.
Emergency medical personnel took the woman to hospital in stable condition, police said.

Police said the man was in his mid-20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 180 pounds.
