FINANCIAL DISTRICT, MANHATTAN —A West Virginia man has been charged for the rice cooker scare that led to the evacuation of the Fulton Street subway station on Friday morning, police said.

Larry Griffin, 26, was charged with three counts of placing a false bomb on Saturday after police originally brought him in for questioning earlier that morning.

Police had been looking for Griffin since shortly after they found two rice cookers in the Fulton Street subway station and a third next to a garbage can in Chelsea. All three devices were empty and did not pose a threat.

The cooker found in Chelsea appeared to be put out with the garbage and "may or may not be related" to the other two, NYPD Chief of Transit Edward Delatorre said.

Griffin, who is from West Virginia but was living in New York City, is being held on a $200,000 bond for the felony charges. He was arraigned on Sunday and reportedly was also wanted on an unrelated case in West Virginia, according to the New York Post.
