NYC Schools To Close During 'Bomb Cyclone' Storm, Mayor Says
Public schools will close on Thursday.

CITY HALL, NY — New York City public schools will be closed on Thursday as the city braces itself for a "bomb cyclone" snow storm, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Wednesday night.
De Blasio said that schools would be closed in a tweet on Wednesday night. After-school programs, adult education, YABC programs, and PSAL activities are also canceled on Thursday.
The storm is expected to hit overnight with what the city's sanitation chief, Kathryn Garcia, is expecting to be "near whiteout conditions."

The storm will likely dump between four and six inches of snow on New York City and come with bitterly cold temperatures and fierce winds.

The National Weather Service is predicting that temperatures will feel like 15 degrees thanks to the wind chill. The city will be under a winter storm watch from late Wednesday night through Thursday evening. The snow is expected to start falling after midnight Thursday and continue until 9 p.m.
