NYC Vigil For Terror Attack Victims To Be Held In Foley Square
The mournful gathering was planned by an interfaith group of organizations for 6 p.m.

MANHATTAN, NY — The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations will hold a peace vigil along with an infaith collection of organizations Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in lower Manhattan's Foley Square in response to Tuesday's terrorist attack.
"Faith and community leaders were devastated by this latest act of mass violence in downtown Manhattan," the group said in a press release. "Representatives of diverse religious traditions and community leaders will offer reflections and prayers for the victims, their families, and our nation tonight."
It was the first deadly terrorist attack in the city since 9/11.

The Interfaith Center of New York, Muslim Community Network, Congregation Beit Simchat Torah are among those hosting the vigil.
On Tuesday afternoon, a driver plowed his car into a bike off the West Side Highway, killing eight people and wounding 12 others. Police have named Sayfullo Saipov as the attacker.
"He did this in the name of ISIS," John Miller, the NYPD's counterterrorism commissioner, told reporters at police headquarters Wednesday morning. Police found handwritten notes in Arabic indicating Saipov's connection to the terrorist group, he said.
The 23-year-old Nicholas Cleves, a resident of Greenwich Village, was among those killed in the attack.
