Roxy Hotel Guest Accidentally Hands Keys to Car Thief Posing as Valet: NYPD
A Tribeca tourist was ripped off last week by a car thief who he thought was a valet attendant, police say.
TRIBECA, NY — An out of towner handed off his car keys to a thief — thinking he was a valet at the Roxy Hotel, police say.
On Friday, Nov. 25, the man, who was visiting from Massachusetts, handed off the keys to his gray, four-door Infiniti to a man in the lobby at the hotel at 2 Ave. of Americas, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).
The thief took the keys and drove off, which was caught on video surveillance, according to the police report.

The man reported the theft of the car, which has an estimated worth of $4,500, to police about five hours later, at 11:20 p.m.
