TRIBECA, NY — Students from the Florida high school where 17 people were killed in a rampage last month visited the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in Manhattan on Wednesday.
The students from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. were in New York City this week for a school trip planned before the horrific shooting that left students and educators dead.
Musicians with the school's wind symphony played at Carnegie Hall on Tuesday before visiting the 9/11 Memorial and Museum on Wednesday. The museum's president and CEO Alice Greenwald said in a tweet that the museum presented the students with a flag flown over the memorial and dedicated a cobblestone to the 17 people killed at their school.

Incredibly moving to welcome the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Band to the @Sept11Memorial today. We presented them with a flag that was flown over the Memorial and we dedicated a cobblestone on the plaza to the 17 killed at their school. We are now forever connected. pic.twitter.com/FQdIwJb9Er

"The museum itself is a testament to the ability to be resilient, as Americans," senior Ridley Hutton, 17, told the Associated Press. "What happened in my home is just an example of that."
As the group of about 60 students visited the museum on Wednesday, prosecutors announced that 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz had been formally charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder and 17 counts of attempted murder by a local grand jury in the wake of the attack.
