Taylor Swift Asks For Realtor's Lawsuit To Be Dismissed
The pop star's lawyers respond to a lawsuit from an NYC real estate company.

TRIBECA, NY — Taylor Swift's lawyers say a lawsuit brought against the pop star's companies, accusing them of stiffing a realtor out of his commission, is unfounded and should be dismissed.
Lawyers for the "Look What You Made Me Do" singer responded in court on Tuesday to a lawsuit from the New York real estate firm Douglas Elliman. Douglas Elliman sued three companies associated with Swift earlier this year, arguing that the pop star had stiffed one of its brokers of his commission on the home at 153 Franklin St., which the star reportedly bought for $18 million. In the lawsuit, Douglas Elliman says Swift and her team agreed to be represented by one of their agents but then cut him out of the deal, according to the suit.
Swift's lawyers responded on Tuesday dismissing Douglas Elliman's claim, and insisting that the massive real estate company was seeking more than a million dollars from a real estate transaction "in which it does not claim to have played any material role."

Lawyers for Swift's companies wrote that "despite not having been involved in any capacity with the purchase and sale of the property, Douglas Elliman claims that by dint of its minimal efforts, it was entitled to the exclusive commission should Defendants ever buy the property, without the obligation to actually do anything required by law to bring about the transaction."
Elliman is suing for the full broker's fee on the property, which it estimated to be $1.08 million if the reported $18 million sale price of the property is accurate.

The lawsuit doesn't mention Swift by name, but notes three companies — Firefly Entertainment Inc., 13 Management LLC and Euro Tribeca LLC — all of which are associated with Swift. The "Bad Blood" singer has previously used the Euro Tribeca LLC to purchase properties.
Swift bought the townhouse at 153 Franklin St. in October. The star also owns a neighboring penthouse apartment at 155 Franklin St.
