Thief Steals $20K Van, $500 Worth of Bread in Tribeca: Police
The suspect jumped into the unlocked van, which had the keys in the ignition, and took off, according to police.
TRIBECA, NY — The thief got away with the bread — literally.
On Sunday, Nov. 27, at 3:20 p.m., a delivery truck driver was loading bread from Grandaisy Bakery at 250 W. Broadway in Tribeca, police say. She then left the 2014 GMC van unattended, unlocked and running with the keys in the ignition. When she came back about ten minutes later, the van — and the about $500 worth of bread in the back — was gone, according to the NYPD.
Police say they got a hit on the license plate on the van — valued at $20,000 — about an hour later at the Holland Tunnel, heading to New Jersey.
