Top 2018 Awards Given to the World Mission Society Church of God

World Mission Society Church of God Receives the U.K. Green Apple Environment Award and the U.S. President's Call to Service Award

NEW YORK – The World Mission Society Church of God concludes 2018 with receiving the internationally acclaimed Green Apple Environment Award and the United States President's Volunteer Service Award—reaffirming the Church's commitment to the preservation of its communities.

The Church of God, which has carried out more than 5,000 environmental cleanups in 175 countries, consistently devotes itself to its communities by cleaning up the streets, rivers, and beaches where its churches are located. Recently, the Church of God's university students volunteer group, ASEZ—which stands for Save the Earth from A to Z—traveled to different parts of the world to work together with local universities, governments and authorities on environmental cleanups, campaigns and educations aimed at changing the public's perception of environmental protection.

"Just as a mother devotes herself to creating and maintaining a healthy and secure environment for her children, the Church of God channels the love of Heavenly Mother in its continuous efforts to restore and preserve the environment for neighbors around the world," said John Power, spokesperson for the Church of God.

In recognition of these efforts, two Green Apple Environment Awards—one of the four most prestigious environmental awards in the world—were presented to both the Church of God and ASEZ during a ceremony held in the House of Commons at the Palace of Westminster in London, U.K. The Church of God and ASEZ were awarded the Bronze and Gold awards, respectively, in the International Global category.

The Green Apple Environment Awards, which are organized and distributed annually by the Green Organization, an international environmental nonprofit, are officially recognized by the European Common and the U.K. Environmental Agency as the best environmental awards in Europe. Since its founding in 1994, the Green Organization has awarded individuals and groups making a difference through projects, products, and services that produce remarkable environmental results; as well as innovations that promote the conservation of the environment.

According to Green Organization's Founder and CEO Roger Wolens, "There were about 500 candidates for the award this year." However, only 112 groups were selected to receive the 2018 Green Apple Environment Award. The Church of God was conferred not one but two awards simultaneously. Wolens commended the Church by declaring, "The Church of God was excellent."

Additionally, the Church of God was also awarded the Gold Level President's Volunteer Service Award. The U.S. president bestowed the award to the Church for conducting more than 1,000 hours of service and "in recognition and appreciation for their commitment to strengthen our nation and communities through volunteer service." The Church has received the President's Volunteer Service Awards in 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

In this way, the World Mission Society Church of God and ASEZ end the year with a firm determination to continue working towards a sustainable future for their global village with the untiring heart of God the Mother.
